 About the role:

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Training and Development Lead to join our team on a permanent full-time basis in our award winning, vibrant Head Office in beautiful Port Chalmers. 

Reporting to the Head of People, this role is responsible for leading our Training and Development function including:

  • Leading the rollout and implementation of our training and development framework.
  • Leading our team of two Training and Development Specialists (2).
  • Supporting our frontline managers and leaders in our Operations teams with all things training and development, including helping to map future skills gaps and developing robust training plans.
  • Acting as a super-user for our Learning Management System (Absorb); ensuring it remains up to date with new system releases and remains fit for our requirements.
  • Responsibility for the continual improvement of the quantity and quality of training plans delivered across our business. 

 About you:

You’ll have a track record in leading training for a mid-size business, ideally within heavy equipment, high-risk or logistics related industries where safety and compliance based training is part of the DNA. Given the ever-evolving nature of our business, you’ll be someone that brings a proactive and flexible approach to work.

You’ll also: 

  • Have a passion for workforce training and development, and experience implementing effective frameworks.
  • Be positive, solutions focused and will lead by example, in a way that means others can’t help but follow.
  • Have a track record of developing in-person and online training materials and assessment tools that are fit for adult learning.
  • Bring with you exceptional computer skills and the technical ability to proficiently use the Adobe creative suite and Articulate suite of eLearning design software (or similar).
  • Have sound project and change management skills – you’ll effectively plan, execute, and monitor the success of training initiatives, making sure the change really sticks.

 Heads up:

  • This is typically a Monday to Friday position, but as the Port operates 24/7, occasionally some flexibility is required.
  • You must have a high standard of health and safety.
  • You must be able to pass Ministry of Justice, ACC checks and a medical which includes a drug and alcohol test as part of our recruitment process.
  • We complete random drug and alcohol testing.
